Our club serves the needs of chess players in the Atherton, Leigh, Tyldesley and Westhougton areas, although we have members from even further afield. Players of all standards and abilities (including juniors) are always welcome.
The club also organises the Atherton Rapidplay tournament, a fun event that takes place in spring. |

Central Lancashire Chess League Atherton has two teams in the league, one each in the first and second divisions.
Atherton has one team in the league, in the first division. |
| Directions: | Approaching Atherton from the Bolton direction, follow the A579 (Bolton Road) past Atherton station and into the Atherton one-way system at Church Street. Very quickly after entering Church Street the road forks and you should take the left turn into Tyldesley Road. The Atherton Arms is on the left-hand side within a few yards. |
